Alfred Bowditch papers, 1907-1914

Papers of Boston, Mass. attorney and trust administrator Alfred Bowditch, 1907-1914, consist of correspondence with family members including his brother Charles Pickering Bowditch and cousin Ernest Bowditch regarding family issues, and nephew Harold Bowditch while he was traveling through Europe; with his property manager Clyde O. Ames regarding house projects, repairs, and bills paid on his summer cottage in North Haven, Maine; and with clients regarding the administration of their estates and information about stock fluctuations and dividends. Other correspondents include Richard M. Saltonstall, Norwood Penrose Hallowell, and Charles S. Rackemann. Charles Pickering Bowditch (born September 30, 1842; died June 1, 1921), was an early initiator and supporter of Meso and Central American research at the Peabody Museum. His interest in Maya studies was sparked by a pleasure trip to the Yucatan in 1888. Bowditch received both his A.B. (1863) and his M.A. (1866) from Harvard University.
